This project asked for the development of a film cafe and public boardwalk inspired by the creation of a film replicating the experience and feel of Kangaroo Point. A key aspect throughout this film was the importance of maintaining the “green” elements as vegetation is being destroyed to make room for current and future urban development. This is expected to increase since the announcement of the 3032 Olympics in Brisbane - the Gabba in Kangaroo Point Expected to become a major stadium.
The proposed design is overlooking the Brisbane River with views to the Botanical Gardens and Eagle Street while implementing materials that emphasise the vegetation of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs. The cafe included on the external seating area with a view to a 7m projected screen which was integrated with public seating and boardwalk. The emphasis on the views was an important element and helped guide the shape of the building along with the natural formations of the cliff face and rocks on site.
