Elegant Compositions
Within my holiday search for a new job I have begun gaining some extra skills within the industry. A few minor details here and there to buff my professional stance, especially as a young designer. I began a course in Architectural Drawing this week. I would say my sketch skills aren't bad, nevertheless, I am always willing to learn. Day 3's lesson Architectural compositions. Not a bad place to venture towards. A particular interest struck me within the comparison between simple and complex volumes, specifically throughout the nature and integration that geometrics has towards architectural design. I would not imagine, despite now realising that this is actually quite important, that geometrical shapes would play so significantly into building design.
The aim of this post is quite simply to demonstrate the 5 elements to an elegant architectural composition. However, in order to best demonstrate my point I had someone randomly provide me with 5 every day objects in order to practice the composition skillset.
The 5 objects I was given were:
a box
a tree
a frypan
a laptop
a TV
These were exactly what I had intended, with some of the objects being significantly more difficult than others to draw in a perspective format. The image below depicts the final version of the image. I will show a labelled design with the 5 elements to the composition after I explain the purpose of each element.
