Motivation, Organisation & Good Coffee

“All you need to succeed in life is motivation, organisation, and a good cup of coffee”

I’ve always believed that success isn’t about luck. It’s not about being in the right place at the right time or having some kind of magic formula that only a select few are lucky enough to discover. No, success – whatever that means to you – is built on three things: motivation, organisation, and a good cup of coffee.

This isn’t just a catchy phrase I throw around. It’s something I live by. It’s the foundation that has carried me through sleepless nights, chaotic life transitions, personal struggles, and moments when giving up felt like the easiest option. But I didn’t. I kept going. And it wasn’t because I had some supernatural ability to push through adversity. It was because I had these three pillars holding me up.

Let me break it down for you.

Motivation: The Fire That Fuels You

Motivation is the spark, the thing that gets you out of bed in the morning (or, let’s be real, at least makes you consider getting out of bed). It’s what makes you dream, set goals, and believe in something bigger than yourself. But here’s the thing about motivation – it’s fleeting. It comes and goes, like an unreliable friend who only shows up when they feel like it.

I’ve had days when I wake up ready to take on the world, my brain buzzing with ideas and my heart pounding with excitement. But I’ve also had days when I can’t even muster the energy to care. When motivation is absent, when the spark feels extinguished, that’s when the other two pillars step in.

Because motivation alone won’t get you to where you want to be. You must work for it. You must create it for yourself, even on the days when you feel empty. And that’s where organisation comes in.

Organisation: The Blueprint for Success

You can have all the motivation in the world, but without a plan, it’s just a wish.

I’ve learned this the hard way. I used to be the kind of person who thrived in chaos, convinced that creativity needed mess, that inspiration would strike in the middle of disorder. And sure, sometimes it did. But more often than not, that lack of structure left me overwhelmed, spinning in circles with no real progress.

So I started getting organised – not in a rigid, perfectionist way… anymore at least… but in a way that allowed me to actually build something sustainable. I made lists. I set deadlines. I created routines. I gave myself structure so that when motivation failed me, my systems wouldn’t.

Because motivation gets you started, but organisation keeps you going.

Life is unpredictable, and if you don’t have a system in place, you’ll find yourself lost more often than not. Organisation isn’t about restricting yourself, it’s about freeing yourself from the chaos of uncertainty. It’s about knowing that even on the hardest days, you have a plan, a roadmap to follow. And when things don’t go according to plan? Well, that’s where the caffeine picks up the pieces.

A Good Cup of Coffee: The Ritual That Grounds You

Now, I know this might sound silly to some. How does coffee fit into this? But hear me out – coffee isn’t just a drink. It’s a ritual. It’s the moment you take for yourself before diving into the chaos of the day. It’s the warmth in your hands when everything else feels cold. It’s the deep breath before the plunge.

For me, coffee represents balance. It’s the simple pleasure that reminds me to slow down, to reset, to gather my thoughts before charging ahead.

There have been so many moments in my life when I’ve felt on the verge of breaking. When the stress was too much, the pressure unbearable, the doubts too loud. And in those moments, I’d step away, make myself a cup of coffee, and just breathe. That small act of self-care, that tiny moment of stillness, has saved me more times than I can count.

Because success isn’t just about pushing forward – it’s about knowing when to pause, when to refill your cup (literally and metaphorically), and when to give yourself the grace to rest.

The Bigger Picture

Motivation, organisation, and coffee. It might sound simple, but these three things have shaped my journey in ways I never expected.

  • Motivation reminds me why I started.

  • Organization ensures I have a way to move forward.

  • Coffee gives me the space to breathe when it all feels too heavy.

Some days, I rely on one more than the others. Some days, I have all three working together in perfect harmony. And some days, well… some days I just have coffee, and that’s enough to get me through.

Success isn’t a straight path. It’s messy, it’s unpredictable, and it’s different for everyone. But if you find what fuels you, build systems that support you, and allow yourself the small joys that keep you grounded—you’re already winning.

So, if you ever feel lost, overwhelmed, or like you’re just running on empty, remember this: Find your motivation, build your systems, and don’t forget to take a moment to enjoy the damn coffee.

You’ve got this.
