Top 3 Lessons I learnt in High School

As a fresh out of school 2017 high school graduate, who also just received an OP* 1 equivalent, I thought I would share my top 3 lessons that I personally learnt throughout my 6 odd years of high school, particularly throughout the last two senior years.

*OP is an acronym for Overall Position and ranks all Queensland students between 1 and 25, with 1 being the best. This then converted to a rank from 0 to 100 on a bellcurve scale. I received a rank of 95 and achieved in the top 1% of students in my state.

1. All you need to succeed is motivation, organisation and a good cup of coffee.

Firstly, this is my own quote. Secondly, I think it is surprisingly accurate. I mean, of course I think that, it's my own quote. I am a fairly motivated and organised person, and there is no one that would tell you I'm not found without a cup of coffee in my hands. I know though, that I am indeed a super freak and that most people aren't actually like myself. While I don't necessarily believe in those Buzzfeed posts on 21 Steps to Become Motivated, I definitely believe it is up to you to determine the light that burns inside leading the way. Everything you should do should be in the interest of that goal. That goal, is the one that allows you to be motivated. If you want to be a movie star then you take every opportunity you can grasp and use that as fuel in your fire.

Organisation in itself is a very personal thing. I honestly don't believe that everyones idea of organisation is the same thing. While I myself tend to be very list making, organise a year in advance and being cleanly, I know several people who work best on the fly without a plan. It's important to know what type of organisation works for you.

I always add in the good cup of coffee because I truly am a coffee addict and drink WAYYY too much. Although it is delicious. I am aware that not everyone drinks coffee, so if you aren't an avid coffee drinking like me, any beverage of your  choice hot or cold works. As long as its something you enjoy!

2. Nothing comes without work

While this particular point could be argued, if you think differently, that is perfectly okay. However, it is an important lesson I learnt because the people who end up with nothing in life are those who expect that doing nothing will give them everything and that they can be given things on a silver platter for free. I agree there are some exceptions to this including Trump. It is important to remember that if you truly want something, nothing could stop you. Nothing should stop you. I have done high school on hard mode, and wouldn't have gotten a 95 rank or my first preference if I didn't work for it. And I worked hard!

3. Something is always due

Probably the weirdest of my lessons learnt, however the truth is, if you always leave stuff to when you have less on your plate, your plate will just get fuller and fuller. If you remember that there is always something due. You will always manage to be on top of all your commitments. I always find that this last one ties in nicely with the other two lessons.
